In 2005, Wolfgang Bucher & Bryan Jordan – artists, educators, and entrepreneurs – felt the need to address the lack of arts experiences for youth within the Old Northeast Neighborhood they live in. Their vision was to inspire a group of artists and volunteers to create programs and events that engage neighborhood youth ages 5 -15 in the creative process through visual and performing arts.

In August of 2006, Bucher and Jordan, established Mosaic Brain as a non-profit arts organization. As board members of the Historic Northeast Cultural Arts Commission, a 501(c)3 non-profit, they gained approval to establish Mosaic Brain as a subcommittee while they registered for tax exempt status.

Since then, Mosaic Brain has been contracted with COMBAT & the Jackson County Family Court through the Sentenced to the Arts Project. Bucher currently teaches art programs after school to elementary aged students at Whittier Elementary through the Local Investment Commission. In November, Mosaic Brain began an ongoing Thursday evening art program at the Garrison Community Center in the Old Northeast for young people living in the Guinotte Manor housing unit.

Mosaic Brain recently held it's first fundraiser, Cups for a Cause, November 9, 2006 and raised upwards of $3000.00 to use for general programs.

In 2007, Mosaic Brain plans to achieve three area grants, establish an ongoing partnership with KCMO Parks & Recreation and Garrison Community Center, create an ongoing art program for three area housing authority units, support National Youth Service Day by improving St. John's Community Gardens, establish a six-week summer art initiative for youth ages 13 -15 and hold a
high-end fundraiser in June.
