At the heart of Mosaic Brain is the belief that art saves lives. It creates possibility within a young person in even the most difficult circumstances. Mosaic Brain has three goals, which provide at-risk and underserved youth with:

  1. a safe, meaningful and collaborative environment where they are respected for their contributions and develop self-esteem

  2. an opportunity to have a voice through exhibitions, service opportunities, and public presentations

  3. the tools to effect positive and substantial change in their lives and their community.

Mosaic Brain reaches it's goals by following these guiding principals:

  • We teach by example, as young people model their behavior from that of their adult mentors.

  • We encourage intergenerational partnerships at every opportunity.

  • We strive to include children in every aspect of the organization so we are mindful of who we serve.

  • We integrate at least one recycled material as a reminder that the everyday can be transformed and re-used.

  • We listen to the ideas and suggestions of young people before, during and after programs.

  • We nurture, reciprocation and partnership with other organizations.

  • We draw from our own urban community for inspiration, artists, board members, and volunteers.

While the goals and principals remain stable, methods of reaching them are constantly underway.
