"An organization like Mosaic Brain would have been a savior for me when I was in grade school"

~Bryan E. Jordan
President of Mosaic Brain

Our founding members are people who have been transformed by art and creativity at some point in their youth. All of us remember a teacher or neighbor or relative that offered us a safe and creative alternative to the chaos surrounding our lives.

As neighbors and friends and colleagues we all feel a sense of responsibility to pass along the same opportunities that transformed us.

Bryan Jordan, Founding Member & President, remembers Mrs. Lupins who lived across the street from him in the tough neighborhood of (Dog Patch) Blue Summit. She used to give him scraps of fabric from the lining of coats and taught him to sew, so that he was able to create superhero costumes he would wear. His superpower was the ability to make people happy.

Wolfgang Bucher, Founding Member & Executive Director, remembers Ms. McCann and Ms. Coppola in fifth grade who encouraged him to use his creative skills to create handmade illustrated books as a substitute for written book reports. He once created a robot with a tape recorder that played back a audio report of H G Wells "The War of the Worlds."

We believe that art is an unconditional method by which a child can navigate through difficulty and crises. It creates a lense in which they can focus their deepest and most challenging emotions to pass through without fear or judgement.
